DIVE INTO The secret: Supitcha Chalotorn – Company Secretary

สุพิชฌาย์ ชะโลธร - เลขานุการบริษัท

“Effective corporate governance isn’t simply about rules. It’s about a core commitment to integrity and transparency—part of the company’s DNA—that fosters sustainable and transparent growth.”

Strong Corporate Governance and Transparency: A Major Milestone for Sermsang Power

While many organizations face challenges in corporate governance, Sermsang Power has consistently built a strong standard over the last decade. In 2024, that commitment has borne remarkable fruit. Beyond achieving a 5-star rating in the Corporate Governance Report (CGR) assessment—the highest honor in good governance—the company was also certified by Thailand’s Private Sector Collective Action Against Corruption (CAC). This certification serves as a testament to the company’s adherence to international standards and its rise as a leader in corporate governance within the renewable energy industry. Achieving this high standard was the result of cooperation and mutual support from every part of the organization, making this success a truly collective achievement.

Transparency: The Heart of Sustainable Development

When it comes to elevating corporate governance standards and fostering a sustainable society, Khun Nui, Supitcha Chalothorn, is an instrumental figure. Her dedication to driving transparency and good governance is reflected in the organization’s 5-star CGR rating in 2024. Khun Nui not only oversees corporate governance policies but also acts as a driving force in creating an organizational culture rooted in transparency, ethical business practices, and social responsibility. She believes that transparency is the critical foundation for an organization’s sustainable development and a vital step toward creating change both within the company and in the wider community.

The Spark for the Organization’s Social Projects

Beyond enhancing internal corporate governance, Khun Nui is also the initiator behind the company’s social projects that create a positive impact and sustainable change. A prime example is the “Light for Life” project, which focuses on promoting access to clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving the quality of life for local communities. This project not only elevates living standards but also reflects the extension of true corporate governance from within the company out into society. Khun Nui is passionate about building a sustainable and equitable society, believing that good governance is not limited to internal operations but must extend to creating long-term value for the community and the environment.

Transforming Corporate Governance: Challenges and the Drive to Success

In the past, Sermsang received a CGR rating of only 3 stars. This was not due to a lack of standards, but because its data disclosure and reporting processes were not yet aligned with international benchmarks. Driving the company to meet higher standards was a significant and challenging mission. Khun Nui spearheaded the development of transparent and verifiable reporting, adopting international standards to ensure that governance practices clearly and directly reflected the company’s performance. Her efforts successfully lifted the organization from 3 stars to 4, and ultimately to the 5-star level.

Advancing corporate governance standards effectively was not easy. Khun Nui faced numerous challenges in fostering collaboration from all stakeholders, both internal and external. These included raising awareness about the importance of good governance, encouraging all departments to move in the same direction, and developing a transparent and easily verifiable reporting system. Furthermore, she worked to instill the principles of good governance into the corporate culture, ensuring every employee understood and actively practiced them to align the company’s operations with higher standards and long-term sustainability.

The Future of Corporate Governance and a Sustainable Culture

Achieving a 5-star CGR rating and CAC certification is not the final destination, but merely a stepping stone on the path of sustainable development. Khun Nui envisions a future where corporate governance is not just a set of “rules” to be followed, but a “culture” that is deeply ingrained at every level of the organization, from executives to employees. This culture must then extend to building a better, more sustainable society.

This philosophy is embodied in Sermsang Power’s FAIR Culture, which emphasizes values such as: Responsibility for one’s actions and their outcomes to meet expectations, all while operating with transparency, integrity, and honesty; Collaboration by working effectively with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and resources for mutual support; and Effective time management and prioritization to achieve goals efficiently.

Building a Sustainable Future Together

Nui firmly believes that:

“If everyone in the organization collaborates and joins forces, we can elevate our corporate governance standards to be even stronger. Together, we will build an organization that is transparent, robust, and serves as a model for the renewable energy industry and society for years to come.”
